How to make money using Google Trends

Google Trends and Yahoo Buzz

Are you contemplating what to write about in your Hub? Looking for something that will get traffic? I know, you must have heard about looking at google trends for ideas. That's not original. I actually got that idea from another hub.

Anyway, it is not so easy to simply choose a topic from google trends and write about it. Last I checked- about 10 minutes ago- the top 10 topics included
1-john phillips mamas and papas
2-qaddafi
3-shun ken onion 9 piece knife block set (which I happen to know was being sold at woot.com at the time)
4-chynna phillips
5-e.d. hill
6-mackenzie phillips
7-khadafy
8-foxy brown superhead
9-obama un speech
10-moammar kada. (Everything in this list is spelled exactly as it came up the the googletrend's list.)

I don't know about you, but none of these topic really inspired me to write anything. One idea would be to write about the daily deal at woot.com because people are looking up reviews of the product. But even so, that will expire by the next day. You want to write about something that is current for more than a day- preferably for a while, so that you can keep getting traffic toward the hub.

There is also yahoo buzz- which gives a list of the hottest searches on the yahoo search engine. Even there, I'm given topics that are kind of irrelevant for hub pages.

There are, however, a lot of rising stars. Right now, for example, many people are searching for information and pictures of Zooey Deschanel. (I happen to like her work as well.) So one hub could be all about her, her background, her movies, pictures... and when people search for her in google or yahoo, they can get a link to your hubpage. But again, this is the current search list. Just beacause she starred in '500 Days of Summer' doesn't mean that people would be searching for her information a couple of months after the DVD comes out.

A better idea for a hub would be to write about those are star in T.V. shows that people are hooked on a weekly basis. For example, Blake Lively seems to be a hot topic on yahoo. She appears on T.V. often enough to spike viewer's interest into finding out more about her and her upcoming projects.

So basically, your hub topic can be influenced by yahoo buzz and google trends. You just have to choose wisely. Obviously you could use google trends and yahoo buzz to help you with ideas other than entertainment. Food, dieting, money, bussiness, and gifts are all topics that are usually entered into the search engines. But using these sites, you can identify the specific content being searched for within these topics.

All in all, this is not the ideal way to choose a topic. I'd recommend writing about what you are interested in, what you know (useless information from your head, and what you would like to research for a topic. This way- you can have fun writing hubs. Enjoy!

Thanks for the helpful information. I too haven't found a lot of help in choosing topics from Google Trends, and usually choose to write about my own interests.
